Luxor Technology Corporation, a compute infrastructure firm, raised $16 million in a strategic investment round on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, to expand its artificial intelligence (AI) business.
CMT Digital, the venture capital arm of Chicago-based CMT Group, led the funding round. Other participants included Canaan, MicroBT, Halo, Steelhead, and angel investors, according to Bitcoin Magazine.
The investment includes both primary and secondary capital. Luxor said the investors are operating partners across the compute supply chain, covering hardware, capital, and power.
The company plans to use the new capital in four areas: scaling its agentic cloud platform, providing working capital for its AI hardware business, expanding its compute derivative trading and market making, and hiring engineering and go-to-market staff.
Luxor launched Luxor AI in September, a business segment that extends the energy, hardware, software, compute trading, and data stack it built for Bitcoin mining into AI and high-performance computing. The Block reported that Luxor plans to hire about 12 people by the end of the year.
Nick Hansen, Luxor’s CEO and co-founder, said that compute markets are converging, with the same miners, power sites, and capital now powering AI. Cointelegraph noted the company aims to capitalise on this trend.
Luxor’s hardware brokerage desk has traded $1 billion of ASIC hardware for Bitcoin mining, according to Bitcoin Magazine. Its energy arm services more than 75 megawatts of load across ERCOT and SPP.
The firm’s AI hardware desk sources GPUs and AI servers through a network of partners. As a Value-Added Reseller to major original equipment manufacturers, the company said it can access abandoned orders, special allocations, and used markets.
Sam Hallene, a partner at CMT Digital, said Luxor understands the energy and infrastructure behind compute, along with the financial tools customers need to manage risk. He said CMT’s backing positions Luxor to scale its compute derivative business as AI compute becomes a tradable market.
Public Bitcoin miners had signed more than $70 billion in AI and high-performance computing contracts by the end of March, according to CoinShares data cited by Bitcoin Magazine.
