Getting it right matters more than getting it first. When we get it wrong, we say so.
- Factual errors are corrected in the story as soon as they are confirmed, normally within one working day, and the story’s updated time changes.
- Material errors, ones that change what a reader would take from the story, get a correction note on the story saying what was wrong and what is right.
- Claims that turn out false are marked False on the verification label. The story stays up with the correction, so the record stays honest.
- Typos and style are fixed without a note.
We do not quietly delete stories to hide mistakes. Removal is reserved for legal reasons or a person’s safety, and is noted.
The editor on the story’s byline reviews every request. Disputes go to the editor-in-chief, Lakshya Mishra.
Include the story link and what is wrong, with a source if you have one. You can also use the contact page.
