BitMine acquired 8,573 ether over the past week to bring its total holdings to 6,060,506 ETH, Wu Blockchain reported on Sunday. The latest purchase means the firm now holds approximately 4.9 percent of Ethereum's total circulating supply across its corporate reserves.
Out of its total balance, BitMine has placed 5,227,037 ETH into staking contracts to generate yield, according to figures cited in the report. The firm reported overall assets across cash, crypto, marketable securities and other investments worth roughly $14.5 billion, which includes $498 million held specifically in liquid cash and marketable balance sheet securities.
Corporate treasury strategies that accumulate cryptocurrency allow institutional investors to hold exposure to digital assets alongside conventional cash balances. Ethereum remains the second-largest cryptocurrency network globally, with ether trading at $2,278.69 and carrying a total market capitalisation of $278.4 billion, according to YourKhabri data.
The ongoing accumulation signals a trend of corporate balance sheets locking up significant portions of ether supply in consensus staking. Market participants will watch future updates from BitMine to see if the firm deploys its remaining $498 million in liquid capital toward further ether purchases.
